Amber Ward was born and raised in Weyburn, Saskatchewan. She studied Visual Communications at the Medicine Hat College in Alberta and upon graduating in 2000 was introduced to film production. Intrigued by the art form, she further explored its possibilities by attending the Vancouver Film School in British Columbia, Canada. Remaining true to the art she had been painting, her films represent a single idea captured in a moment of time and remain forever imprinted in our minds. In 2003 Ward created a series based on her Plein Air inspired sketch of a tree. "Homage", one of twelve paintings in the series earned her a first place ribbon in the mixed media category for an art show in New Hampshire.
In her latest series, currently untitled, Ward paints on plexiglass, giving her images a whole new dimension. The subjects of Ward's work range from internal feelings and uncertainties to global issues and tragedies. The statements expressed within each piece are as bold as the colors she chooses.
